The 2008 Continental GT Speed is Bentley's most powerful production car and its first to top 200 mph. A potent addition to the company's highly successful Continental series, the GT Speed extends the appeal of the Continental GT coupe to driving enthusiasts who place a high value on outright performance and agile handling.
Operating with twin turbochargers, the four-overhead-cam 6.0-liter W-12 generates 600 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 553 lb. ft. of torque at 1,750 rpm. The resultant performance is exceptional, with a top speed of 202 mph, a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of just 4.3 seconds, and effortless overtaking capability.
The exterior style of the GT Speed model is defined by a wider, lower air intake and more upright radiator grille — both of which provide increased airflow. In the $200,000 range, Bentley's coupes represent a more refined - if not quite as sporty - alternative to the ripsnorters from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin.
