About Romeo 8C Competizione

The 2008 8C Competizione was the first two-seater supercar Alfa Romeo introduced to the road.

Based on the same steel chassis used for the Maserati Coupe, the 8C features a carbon fiber composite body. Its distinctive appearance comes from extensive use of composite materials on the face and interior panels. This is a technical choice but also reinforces the car’s spirit and emphasizes its personality.

The 8C uses a modified Maserati platform and powertrain, and features a Ferrari/Maserati derived 90-degree cross-plane wet sum lubricated 4.7-liter V8 assembled by Ferrari. The top engine performance figures may be summarized as a maximum power of 450 horsepower at 7,000 revolutions per minute, and peak torque of 354 lb. ft. at 4,750 rpm. This allows the 8C to reach a top speed of 190 mph, going from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds.

The Alfa 8C was designed to achieve the highest levels of aerodynamic efficiency. Air wraps smoothly around the car, following its natural course, unhindered by corners and unevenness. Much attention has been devoted to the creation of a ground effect that has allowed a negative lift coefficient to help increase stability at high speed, just as for racing cars.

The 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was built in a limited production run of 500 units. With a base price of $265,000, the entire run quickly sold out.
