The hand-built, limited-production 2006 Saleen S7 is a racing version of the standard, naturally aspirated S7, produced from 2000 to 2007. It was designed to compete in grand tourer-style motorsports series and events such as the American Le Mans Series, FIA GT Championship, and 24 Hours of Le Mans.
A combination of the latest in hi-tech materials and advanced engineering, the Saleen S7 takes technology originally developed for the exploration of space and puts it on the road. Magnesium, titanium, beryllium, carbon fiber, ceramic coated stainless steel, CNC machined aluminum, and honeycomb composite are just a few of the materials borrowed from the aerospace industry that are used throughout the S7.
With the S7, Saleen set out to create a vehicle mixing performance, luxury and style with functionality. From the plush Connolly leather, to the adjustable pedals and removable steering wheel, driver comfort was made a priority.
The body of the car, made entirely from carbon fiber, incorporates the use of scoops, spoilers, and other aerodynamic features to create split-channel airflow throughout the car. It can reach a top speed of over 200 mph, creating its own weight in downforce at 160 mph.
