About Peterbilt 379

The 379 was Peterbilt's flagship truck since 1987 and it was said to be the last conventional over-the-road truck available with an aluminum hood. The 379 was known as the “Legacy Edition.” Only 1,000 were produced and there was no problem selling these. Today, the 379 is still considered a trucking industry legend and the most popular owner-operator truck in history.

Throughout production, the Peterbilt 379 came loaded with some of the most powerful high torque in line 6 cylinder turbo diesel engines offered in on highway vehicles. The 379 was actually capable of attaining in excess of 1 million miles before facing any major engine issues.

This 1999 Peterbilt 379 is transporting a 2011 Dodge Ram Monster Truck. The steel frame and 250” wide wheelbase provide the 379 with the strength and stability it needs to haul large masses.
