About Hemi Cuda

The 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda was one of the fiercest and most powerful vehicles ever constructed for the roadway. It was built atop the "E" body platform and was restyled by John Herlitz, making it longer, wider, and lower. Its 426-cubic inch Hemi V-8 was capable of producing an astonishing 425 horsepower. Matted to a four-speed manual 833 transmission, this was the ultimate muscle car of its day.

With only 11 documented examples, the 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible is among the most valuable and sought-after vehicles from the muscle car era. Due to its low production volume and even smaller surviving population, finding one in mint condition is rare. Less-than-pristine examples will price well into the six-figure range. Currently a Condition One 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda values at $340,000, while a Condition Four car still rates a value of $205,000. As impressive as those numbers sound, the car's value in 2007 ranged from $890,000 to $1.2 million, showing how far the market has dropped in recent years. Still, it is a far cry from the 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda's original base price of $3,164.
