About Yenko Camaro

The 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro was the brainchild of former racecar driver Don Yenko and the product of his muscle car shop, Yenko Chevrolet. There is little debate that this Camaro was Don Yenko's greatest work of aftermarket genius.

The Yenko Camaro was a limited production vehicle, equipped with a special performance package including a L72 427/425hp engine, special ducted hood, dual exhaust system, increased cooling capacity and special suspension. Yenko Camaros also received COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion, which included a 140 mph speedometer, larger diameter 13/16" front stabilizer bar and 15 x 7 Rally wheels with E70 raised white lettered tires.

Although the 1967 and 1968 Yenko Camaros may be a bit rarer, based on their lower production numbers, the 1969 edition continues to spellbind muscle car enthusiasts and weave an aura of Chevy mystique that few other factory hot rods of that period can duplicate.

The 1969 Yenko Camaro represented several changes in the car's manufacturing process compared to the 1967 and 1968 versions. Those models required Yenko's team to uninstall the factory-fitted 396-cube engines. The 1969 Yenko Camaros had their 427s bolted in at Chevy's assembly plant. In addition, 1969 was the first year an automatic transmission could be ordered in a Yenko Camaro.

With its muscular looks and top speed reaching 140 mph, the '69 Yenko "Super Car" Camaro remains highly desirable to this day. Its original base price was $4,500.
